For backpackers, equipping themselves with skills when traveling is essential. The most important thing is to fix his "horse" every time the guy "sick" in the middle of the road. It is even more difficult to have problems in remote mountainous areas where there is no car repair shop. So in today's article we will guide you through the basic skills when your motorbike breaks down in the middle of the road.

Removing/installing the front wheel
Tools needed: Pin 19, pin 17
Making:
-
Use set 19 or 17 (depending on vehicle) to remove the screws on the front wheel. If you observe the axle, you will see that the front wheel axle of the car has a bar from side to side, one side is a nail cap, one side is fixed with a screw, we will screw the screw.
-
After removing the shaft that passes from side to side, we will be able to separate the rim (still with tires and tubes) from the axle. However, while we remove the long shaft, there will be something falling out with the wheel, which is a round shaft (called the shaft - it's on the same side as the screw driver), remember there is something for when Put it back in and put it back in, forget it.
-
Okay, now we have completely separated the wheel from the frame. When you practice, you will see, the front wheel connects to the frame not only through the main shaft as mentioned above, but also through a part, directly attached to the center of the front wheel. In the cladding part there are 2 prongs (forming a straight line), in the paneled wheel part there are also 2 prongs (forming a straight line). When installing the wheel, pay attention to install it so that the two lines are perpendicular to each other.
-
Finally, reinstall the base shaft, main shaft and screw it tightly and it's ok.
-
Check: turn the wheel, squeeze the brake and tighten the screw.
Remove/install rear wheel
A bit more complicated than the front wheel due to the brake part and also more miscellaneous things falling out when removed.
Tools: Pin 14 - 17, wrench 12, 17, 19
Making:
-
Take 14 -17 and remove the brake
-
Take the wrench 12 and turn the pin (connect the pin) -> 1 pin, 1 black long
-
Work on both sides: on the right, use the 19 wrench to hold it tight, on the left, take the 14-17 bolts to remove the screws.
-
Now we can pull out the rear wheel axle (Note: do not fully withdraw, only withdraw a little).
-
So one side of the wheel is still attached to the axle, one side is free, right? I will do: patch the car, change the tube on the free side (patch the car, change the tube, refer to part III).
-
After the replacement is complete, we reassemble the parts according to the principle of disassembling, installing first
-
The rear wheel will also have a hub like the front wheel, you put the shaft in and then push the main shaft to, some cars have a chain booster, remember to install it.
-
Now we turn the main shaft screw, let's loosen it.
-
Hold the screwdriver and insert the screw, install the rubber pad, blacken the bolt, and then tighten the screw
-
Tighten the brake: fit and test the foot brake, note that the brake nut is never tight, don't try to tighten it)
-
Finally, tighten the shaft nut.
Car patching, tire change
Tools: tire hook, tire deflate needle, pliers, sandpaper, glue, patch, hammer
Making:
-
Remove the inner tube (use a tire hook)
-
To know where it's punctured, pump up the tube and dip it in water, where it's bubbling, that's where it needs to be patched.
-
The place to be patched has been determined -> get a deflated needle to tattoo the car
-
Use sandpaper to hit that place, hit it so that the part is black, no dirt. Some types of tubes have veins in the middle, which will sink the line
-
Squeeze out a little glue, use your hands to spread the glue evenly on the area to be patched
-
Peel off the patch, wait for the glue to dry (blow it) ) ~> stick the patch on, use 2 fingers to smooth it
-
Use a hammer to beat it firmly, use a taper to make the patch soft.
-
Done, put the tube back in the tire. Insert the inner tube valve into the valve hole on the front rim. When the tube is fully inserted, we use the tire hook to attach the tire to the rim. Be careful, otherwise it is very likely that the tire hook will tear the inner tube.)
-
Install the inner tube valve screw and pump the pump pump
Above are the basic skills that will help you to fix your own car when the car breaks down when going on a trip. Wishing you happy and safe travels.
